Tonight we went to Mount Rushmore. It was our first time but Belinda and Kathy had been once before. They knew where to park, etc. We chose the evening so we could be there for the Lighting Ceremony. The weather started out very nice but the closer we got to the park, the darker it was becoming. We pushed ahead and went into the Visitor’s Center. While watching the short movie on the history and building of the monument, it started to rain and also had thunder and lightning. The Rangers said that the decision to hold the lighting will be made at the start time. Luckily, the weather passed enough to have the ceremony. Words can not describe the feeling of patriotism or love of our country that was felt throughout the arena. It was awe inspiring. We want to go back one more time before we leave so we can get closer to the stage. And try for better weather.
