Saturday was just a long travel day.  We drove about 5 1/2 hours but we crossed into the Eastern time zone so we added an hour to our day.  We reached the Asheville KOA West campground.  It was quiet and very shaded.  Unfortunately we had to unhitch to level.  The RV needs to be relatively level to allow for proper operation of the slides.  We settled in for the evening.

Sunday morning we arose and went about packing up.  I emptied the black and grey tanks as it will be sitting in our driveway until September.  As we were hitching up one of the work campers came by and Nancy started talking to him.  He was a Greensboro firefighter at one  time.  We knew some of the same people.  Small world.  We finally got hitched up and on our way.  It felt strange driving east.

When we arrived home, Phillip had Braxton out in the front yard playing.  He did not know we were coming home.  He was very surprised.  The smile on his face and in his eyes said it all.  And then the wonderful hugs we got from everyone.  Phillip backed the RV into the drive while Nancy and I went inside to get hugs and say hi to Andrew and Michelle.  Then I went back out and Phillip and I unhitched the RV and set it up.  The long process of moving back into our little cottage began.  Since we rented it out while we were gone, almost everything went into storage or packed into a closet.  It will be several days to get everything where it belongs.  The RV needs a deep cleaning in and out.  There are a couple of minor repair items to do.  We have until mid September to get it ready for a one week trip to Wilkesboro, NC to see some of our RV friends.  The RV has logged 8,855 miles in the last one year, 3 months, and 4 days.  While the trip was definitely worth taking and quite the adventure and experience, It’s still good to be home.  Phillip and Michelle made a wonderful dinner for us.  Smoked beef tenderloin, doctored green beans (bacon and onions), sautéed mushrooms, smoked shrimp, and for desert peanut butter pie.  It was fabulous!  And greatly appreciated. And we are definitely in time for Braxton’s 8th birthday.
